Workshops 2012

Active Citizens is going from strength to strength and now includes Banbury as well as target local income communities in Oxford - Barton, North Way and Woodfarm.

Thanks to support from the British Council and the Oxfordshire Partnership we’re working with a diverse range of local residents and key representatives such as a city councillor and a neighbourhood police officer to develop social action projects linked to area priorities and plans.

Participants develop their projects in locality groups through a series of practical, participatory training workshops spread over five months. Our Oxfordshire Active Citizens programme focuses on diversity, social inclusion and community development and is working with communities which have become much more ethnically mixed in recent years. The aim is to promote dialogue while developing appropriate practical initiatives on the ground reflecting the needs of all local residents.

ACTIVE CITIZENS 2012
Participant feedback on Oxfordshire Active Citizens

“The processes used in the training sessions are fun, interactive and also extremely useful for everyone involved."

"I found the community reports and analysis fascinating and a useful basis for discussion and policy development"

“The most useful thing about today were the discussions we had in groups about the global and local things in our area which meant that I learnt more about the area I live in.”

“This was a great training session-the playful, fun approach was essential in order for others to feel at ease with one another and I have learnt so much in one day"

“The best thing about the day was meeting new people with the same hopes for a better community ”
